New Release 3.0 | New design for the cockpit
The biggest update of Vario One so far
Release 3.0 is the most comprehensive update since the launch of Vario One. New sensor technology, automatic flight detection, FAI certification and a completely redesigned interface – all in one update.
Four fundamental improvements in one release – this is the biggest leap for Vario One yet.
More precise climb and sink detection through sensor fusion
Vario One 3.0 combines multiple sensors for significantly more accurate detection of climbing and sinking:
- More reliable values through intelligent sensor fusion
- Less interference from turbulence or rapid direction changes
- Smoother vario curve without sacrificing response speed
The result: you get a clearer signal that helps you better identify thermals and center more precisely.
Automatic takeoff and landing detection
You no longer need to manually start or stop recording. Vario One now automatically detects:
- Takeoff – the system detects takeoff based on your movement patterns
- Landing – recording stops automatically once you have landed
This means: simply open the app, go fly, and don’t worry about recording. Everything happens automatically in the background.
FAI certification with Code XVI
Vario One is now officially FAI certified with Code XVI. This means:
- All flights are saved as IGC files
- Every flight is digitally signed
- Signatures are automatically validated on flight portals
- Your flights are officially recognized – without any additional effort
No manual verification, no paperwork – your iPhone or Apple Watch is now an officially recognized flight instrument.
New design – optimized for sunlight
The cockpit has been completely redesigned with a focus on maximum readability under all conditions:
- Black background – for maximum contrast in direct sunlight
- High-contrast icons – every symbol is recognizable even from the corner of your eye
- Optimized font sizes – large, clear numbers you can read even with sunglasses
The new design was developed specifically for outdoor use. Whether bright sunshine or overcast sky – the instruments are always easy to read.
